Haventhorne is an Elven Kingdom that predates the fall of elvenkind to humans. Some say the Kingdom preserves because of the secrets locked in the tower. Others speculate the bloodline of the archmages is too powerful to allow the total destruction of the kingdom, though it has come close to lying in ruin upon more than one occasion. With such a long and colorful history, it is easiest to detail based upon the Archmage of the era.

Reinhold the Keeper of Knowledge
Who is Reinhold you ask, none other then the last Archmage of Haventhorne before the fall. Reinhold witnessed the fall ages ago, but he was lost during the great battles. He was never confirmed dead, but wild rumors of his fate spread through the kingdom and beyond its borders. Fearing the worse, Reinhold spent the final months before the fall safeguarding the secrets and knowledge of his predecessors. Before the fall, the magick was much stronger. Over the ages each Archmage passed on his or her knowledge to the next in line. This knowledge would be lost with the death of the arch mage and the coming fall of the kingdom. It may have been to preserve the legacy, or a matter of ego, but Reinhold created a spell that locked that knowledge inside a ever burning flame and then locked that flame away inside his tower.
Autumn the Scion
When the kingdom fell to the human armies, they could not breech the defenses of Reinhold's Tower and the Flame remained locked away until the kingdom was reborn. The daughter of the last king before the fall and the brother of Reinhold, Aldur Ranson, Autumn was named Archmage of Haventhorne. While her eldest brother, Hegols was named king. Legols, the third child of Aldur serves as the Royal Prince. Autumn was the first Archmage after the fall.
Autumn was able to gain access to the tower and the wonders it held. However, she knew she was not near the mage her great uncle was and decided that the flame needed more protection. She enlisted the assistance of her brother, the reigning Prince, Legols. It was Legols that had the idea to create a small elite group, dedicated to not only protecting the Flame but also spreading it's light into the shadows of darkness in the world, and the Guardians where born. Autumn has since moved on to other pursuits, and is now serving as the Head Mistress of the Haventhorne School for Magically Gifted Girls.
Teo Ranson
Teo was the son of one of Aldur Ranson's adopted daughters, Besel Ranson, and was given the title of Archmage when Autumn retired. Under the guidance of Teo the Guardians continued to grow, as did the Kingdom of Haventhorne. Their numbers reached into the fifties, men and women sworn to protecting the flame. Teo mysteriously vanished from Haventhorne and his whereabouts are unknown.
Lena Ranson
Lena was the daughter of Hegols, and was named the next Archmage a short time after her cousin Teo went missing. Lena served in the position for only a short time however until her cousin Sildreth returned to the realms and was ready to assume the title. Lena is currently teaching in the Haventhorne School for Magically Gifted Girls with her Aunt Autumn.
Sildreth Ranson
The Guardians numbers have fallen over the years, and it's former leadership gone to the four winds but all was not lost, Sildreth had return to the realms, and for the first time in the history of Haventhorne, has asked one not of his bloodline to guard the flame. Hegols consented to release the guardians to Jaret Calabria-Spellweaver, who along with Sildreth, has been charged with restoring the magick and rebuilding the Guardians to their former glory.
Ranson Family Tree
1st Generation -
Aldur Ranson, was the last King before the Fall, with his wife Pol, he fathered three children: Hegols, Legols, and Autumn. Aldur also adopted two children, Joleen and Besel. Prior to his death he was raised as a Demi-God by Corellon, Father of the Elves.
Pol Ranson, was the last Queen before the Fall, wife to Aldur. A powerful sorceress in her own right who often returns to the moral plane as a panther.
2nd Generation -
Hegols Ranson is the present day King, married to Goholin Ranson. He fathered two children with Goholin, Jared and Lena Ranson.
Legols Ranson is the former GC of the Guardians. He has been married twice, and widowed both times. His first children, a set of unborn twins died with his first wife Sara in childbirth. He had a surviving set of twins with his second wife Zori, Adriana and Aden.
Autumn Ranson is a former Archmage of Haventhorne and is currently the Head Mistress at the School for Magically Gifted Girls.
Joleen Firebird Ranson, married to Zendrillon, later divorced. Mother to Sildreth Ranson
Besel Ranson, married several times and has a number of children. Only one of her children took the Ranson name, Teo Ranson.
3rd Generation -
Jared Ranson, son of Hegols and Goholin. Presently serving as Commander of the Sardinia Army, a neighboring and allied kingdom.
Lena Ranson, daughter to Hegols and Goholin. Former Archmage of Haventhorne. She is presently teaching at the School for Magically Gifted Girls.
Adriana Ranson, daughter of Legols and Zori. Presently attending the School for Magically Gifted Girls.
Aden Ranson, son of Legols and Zori. Presently attending Haventhorne University where he is studying to be a Bladesinger.
Sildreth Ranson, son of Joleen and Zendrillon and the present Archmage of Haventhorne.
Teo Ranson, son of Besel and Malleketh. Former Archmage. Whereabouts unknown. |
